Steam Condensate Monitoring
ODS delivers complete analyser systems to monitor the contamination of steam condensate. Special care has been taken regarding sample extraction, sample transport and sample conditioning. Issues of great importance are:
- Safety; pressure and temperatures are high. The installation is built in such a way that safe operation is guarantied.
- Particle filtration: Very small particles that are normally present in the steam can block sample lines and sample conditioning equipment or can influence analytical performance such as absorption, response time, etc.
- Steam flashing *). ODS delivers a tailor made sample system based on your process data.
- Analytical performance. The system will be designed in such a way that the analytical performance is as optimum as possible. Aspects of interest are: absorption/adsorption of hydrocarbons during transport to the analyser, response time of the total TOC-analyser system, tailing and memory effects and carry over when using multi-stream systems.
- TOC-analyser performance. The TOC-concentrations to be analysed are very low (microgram per litre or ppb’s). The higher the steam pressure ... the lower the TOC-content. Selecting the correct TOC-analyser is of great importance. The reproducibility and repeatability are presented via a quality test report.
- Calibration. Routinely validation of the analyser and/or analyser system can be done by wet chemical standards (bench mark) or via a calibration gas.
- Utilities. The quality of the utilities is of great importance. ODS delivers excellent solutions such as zero air supplies. Instrument air (pressurised air) that can be used for analyser carrier gas should be as pure as possible. We offer techniques such as catalytical combustion (CxHy and CH4 removal), absorption swing (CO2 removal) and/or scrubbers filled with activated charcoal, molecular sieve and soda lime to take out all relevant impurities.
*) A specific amount of heat energy is released for each lower pressure condition and the heat energy that is release causes an effect that is called “flash steam”, which is a percentage of condensate being “re-evaporated” into flash steam at the lower pressure.
We offer complete analyser systems including analyser houses / analyser shelters.
We offer commissioning and start-up on-site. Our personal is professional and trained to work in industrial areas such as refineries, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, power stations etc. Our personal is VCA certified (safety).
